Any NRI Category seat remained vacant till the last date of admission shall go to the Special
Management quota for which schedule for admission will be notified accordingly later on.
Drafts in Indian currency should be in favour of “Principal, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital, Ram Nagar (Rajpura), Patiala “ payable at Chandigarh and those in foreign currency should be in favour of “Principal, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital.
Incomplete applications/Applications received late will not be entertained. In their own interest, the candidates are advised to submit their application forms and documents in person to avoid postal delays.
Procedure for MBBS Admission 2008
A. Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital, Ram Nagar (Rajpura) Distt. Patiala is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and approved by the Medical Council of India.
B. The normal duration of MBBS course (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) is five and half academic years (including one year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship). The course is governed by the rules and regulations of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences/Medical Council of India.

Note: The distribution of seats is purely provisional, subject to any change by BFUHS/Govt.
D. Eligibility:-
(i)The eligibility of the candidates under Govt. Quota/Management Quota/Special Management Quota/NRI Quota is as per the criteria laid down in the Punjab Govt. Notification 5/3/08-3HBIII/1934 dated 31.3.2008 and its amendment from time to time/PMET 2008 Prospectus.
(ii)The candidate should have passed 10 1 and 10 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or equivalent examination as listed under clause 4A(i) a to f of the Punjab Govt. Notification dated 31.3.2008, as a regular candidate from a recognized institution situated in the State of Punjab except for the exemptions wherever applicable.
(iii) Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st Dec., 2008.
(iv) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/BC) taken together in PCBE and also in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in 10 2 examination and have secured 50%marks (40% for SC/BC) in PMET also.
E. Selection/Admission Procedure:
E.1 Government Quota (Gen/SC/BC/HC seats)
All candidates should apply for admission to the B.F.U.H.S. who fulfill the eligibility criteria and other conditions and also have qualified the PMET 2008. The Selection of candidates will be made by the Central Admission Committee as per schedule of PMET 2008 as notified by the B.F.U.H.S. The selected candidates by B.F.U.H.S. should report to the institution on the dates to be notified by the B.F.U.H.S. at the time of counseling along with following documents (original and photocopy):-
1) Receipt of Provisional Tuition Fee for the first year.
2) Bank draft of other charges in favour of Principal, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital payable at the time of admission.
3) Allotment letter from BFUHS.
4) PMET- 2008 admit card.
5) PMET -2008 result card/print out.
6) Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination ( 10 2 or equivalent)
7) Certificate showing detailed marks of 10 2 and 10 1 (both) or equivalent examinations.
8) Matriculation certificate showing date of birth.
9) Good conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
10) Certificate showing that the candidate had studied 10 1 & 10 2 as regular student in the recognized institution situated in Punjab.
11) Exemption Certificate whichever applicable as per clause 4 D in case studied out of Punjab.
12) Migration Certificate, if passed 10 2 or equivalent examination from Board/University other than Punjab School Education Board.
13) Punjab Residence Certificate.
14) Gap in studies affidavit, if applicable.
15) Certificate of reserved category from the competent authority, if any reservation is claimed.
16) Surety Bond/Bank Guarantee of balance fee.(To be submitted at the admission)
17) Ten unattested copies of the same Passport size photograph.
18) Five unattested copies of the same Stamp size photograph.
E.2 Management Quota Seats (Gen/SC/BC/HC/J&K Seats):
Each candidate who qualify the PMET 2008 and fulfill the other conditions of eligibility criteria as per Punjab Govt. Notification/Prospectus for PMET 2008 is required to apply on the prescribed Performa to the institution directly after the declaration of result of PMET 2008 by the last day and send the same to the Deputy Registrar, Training, Gian Sagar Educational Institutions, ground Floor, Building of Gian Sagar Medical College, Ram Nagar (Rajpura), Distt. Patiala,
Pin code 140601, (Punjab), India along with attested photocopy of following documents:-
1. PMET- 2008 admit card.
2. PMET -2008 result card/print out.
3. Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination ( 10 2 or equivalent)
4. Certificate showing detailed marks of 10 1 and 10 2 (both) or equivalent examinations.
5. Matriculation certificate showing date of birth.
6. Good conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
7. Certificate showing that the candidate had studied 10 1 & 10 2 as regular student in the recognized institution situated in Punjab.
8. Exemption Certificate whichever applicable as per clause 4 D in case studied out of Punjab.
9. Migration Certificate if passed 10 2 or equivalent from Board/University other than Punjab School Education Board.

E-3 Management Quota (NRI seats/Special Management Quota):
Each candidate is required to apply on the prescribed form to the institution directly after obtaining the Eligibility Certificate from BFUHS in case of NRI Categories I & II by the last day and send the same to the Deputy Registrar, Training, Gian Sagar Educational Institutions, Ground Floor, Building of Gian Sagar Medical College, Ram Nagar (Rajpura), Distt. Patiala, Pin code 140601 (Punjab), India along with attested photocopy of following documents:-
1. Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination ( High School Diploma for Category I & II equivalent to 10 2 examination )
2. Certificate showing detailed marks/explanation sheet of grades/credit/Detailed marks of 10 2 and 10 1 (both) or equivalent examinations.
3. Certificate of accreditation of High School for Category I & II.
4. Matriculation certificate showing date of birth./Certificate of date birth.
5. Good conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
6. Certificate showing that the candidate had passed the qualifying examination equivalent to 10 1 & 10 2 as regular student in the recognized institution/university.
7. Photocopy of passport of parent/candidates.
8. Photocopy of passport or other proof showing Foreign Indian National (NRI) status.
9. Bank Guarantee of balance fee.(To be submitted at the time of admission or within one week time from the admission)
10. Ten unattested copies of the same PP size photograph.
11. Five unattested copies of the same Stamp size photograph
12. Bank draft of cost of application form.

How to obtain eligibility Certificate from B.F.U.H.S. (For NRI candidates only)
Each NRI candidate should apply to the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on the prescribed performa for eligibility certificate alongwith all required documents and fees for obtaining eligibility certificate. All the original certificate/documents are required to be produced to the university for this purpose and the same will be returned by the university after the issue of eligibility certificate. Any seat remaining vacant under the NRI category till the last date of admission shall go to the Special Management quota which will be filled as per the eligibility criteria applicable for management seats but its fee shall be 6 Lacs per annum.
Special Instructions:
After the second counseling, the seats left vacant (both in Govt. as well as management quota) shall be filled by institution itself after due publication of notice in leading newspapers, out of the eligible candidates who have qualified in PMET.
F. Medical examination:
Each selected candidate is required to report for medical examination on dates notified for this purpose at the time of counseling and also bring with them the original Certificates/ documents as mentioned above and thereafter deposit the all charges on the same day.

Security advances will be refunded without interest and after adjustments, if any, on completion of the course after submission of “NO DUES” Certificate.
G 4 Refund of Tuition Fee:
Fees, once paid, shall NOT be refunded except when a candidate is admitted/shifted from one college to another in second or subsequent Central counseling/operation of waiting list through B.F.U.H.S.
G 5 Fee from failed students:
A student failing in any subject(s) in a University Examination shall be required to pay, for each subject and each attempt, tuition fee at the rate of Rs.3000/- for students admitted against Non NRI seats or USA $ 300 or an equivalent amount for students admitted against NRI/Special Management Quota seats.
General Information
1. The Hostel is compulsory for every student.
2. All admissions are provisional and are subject to approval by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
3. The courses of study and examinations will be governed by the regulations of BFUHS and MCI.
4. The classes for the failed/detained students will start immediately after the declaration of the results. Attendance in these classes is compulsory.
5. Inter-medical college migration is not permitted except under extraordinary circumstances as per rules of MCI.
6. The Rules and Regulations, including fees may be revised as and when required by Govt./Management and the revised rules and regulations/fee will be applicable irrespectable of the conditions mentioned in this prospectus.
7. Very Important regarding ragging:-
“If any incidence of ragging comes to the notice of the authorities, the concerned students shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authorities would expel him/her from the institution.”
8. Misbehavior/ criminal activity of student will attract expulsion from the institution.
9. Mobile phone not allowed in classroom, if found will be confiscated and will be returned only to parents for first time, second time it will not be returned at all.
10. The tuition fee/other charges for year will have to be deposited at the time of admission before start of classes.
