Admission to BDS

 

Status: Approved for admission by Medical Council of India/ Dental Council of India/Punjab Goverment and granted affiliation by Baba Farid University of Health Scinces Faridkot .

  Admission is strictly as per Punjab Govt. Notifications issued from time to time.

The Punjab governmnet has issued notificaiton No. 5/3/08-3 HBIII/19/34Dt. 31/3/2008 regarding conduct of PMET for admission to MBBS/BDS/ /BAMS/BHMS in the Medical /Dental/Ayurvedic/Homeopathic Colleges in the state of Punjab. The process for conduct of PMET 2008 is under process of Baba Farid University of Healths Scinces, Faridkot.

After the publication of prospectus the process for admission will start according to the schedule notified therein.Fees: Strictly as per Punjab Govt. Notifications

Management Quota Seats(For each course) –– 50 (35 15 NRI Seats)
The Admissions are strictly made as per the instructions issued by the Punjab Government in its notification regarding PMET.
 Criteria for Admission :- 85% seats of the total are filled up amongst the candidates who appeared in PMET of the basis of their merit.
Eligibility Criteria :-
1)     The candidate should have passed 10 1 and 10 2 or its equivalent examination and the qualifying examination as a regular candidate from a recognized institution / university. The 10 2 or equivalent examination will be as per details given below :-
(a)       The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10 2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology after the introduction of the 10 2 3 years education structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education;
(OR)
(b)       The intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject;
(OR)
(c)       The Pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination or the pre-university or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/premedical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as compulsory subject;
(OR)
(d)       The first year of the three year degree course of a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination is a “University Examination” and candidate has passed 10 2 with the English at a level not less than a core course;
(OR)
(e)       B.Sc examination of an Indian University, provided that the candidate has passed the B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the following subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that the candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English;
(OR)
(f)        Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate Science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English;
 
2)     The candidate should have passed both 10 1 and the 10 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or equivalent examinations during the Annual Examination held in the March/ April of the year of PMET or earlier as a regular candidate from a recognized institution except exemption classes as lead down in the Punjab Government notification issued time to time.

3)     Age :- Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which PMET held.

4)     Candidate must have passed in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/BC) taken together in PCBE and also in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in 10 2 examination and should also have passed 10 1 examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually.

5)     Candidate must have secured at least 50% (40% for SC/BC) in the PMET.
Eligibility for NRI Seats :- 15% seats are reserved for NRI category as below :-
i)         Category I : NRIs who originally belonged to the State of Punjab.

ii)       Category II: NRIs who originally belonged to an Indian State other than Punjab.

Eligibility for filling up the NRI seats is as per Punjab Government Notification issued from time to time.

The candidates for N.R.I seats will be admitted on merit determined on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination equivalent to 10 2 examination of P.S.E.B/C.B.S.E./I.C.S.E in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) taken together. The equivalence, merit and eligibility of the candidates will be determined by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, who will issue an eligibility certificate to each such candidate. They are not required to take the entrance test. However, they should have passed in such qualifying examinations as regular candidate from a recognized institution in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and should have obtained at least 50% marks and should have also secured 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) taken together.
